Theologists To Research If Cremation Is Biblical

The Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma general secretary, Reverend Dr Semisi Turagavou, says scholars of Davuilevu Theological College were conducting a research to find out whether cremation of the body is biblical or not.
This was one of the issues raised during the weeklong Methodist Church Conference in Furnival Park.
Reverend Turagavou made this comment after some members raised whether their bodies could be cremated as the cemeteries at Lovonilase in Suva, Nasinu and Vatuwaqa were full.
Members said the cemeteries were filled to capacity and this was not only an issue in the urban areas but also in the rural areas.

He said scholars of the Davuilevu Theological College were carrying out studies.
“They are finding out whats biblical and theological interpretations of the cremation of bodies,” Reverend Turagavou said.
“At the moment, we are still waiting for feedback from them. We are waiting for them to give us update,” he said.
He said he would be providing update once he had received the studies from Davuilevu Theological College.
