Kauyaca Confident Of A Winning Comeback

Fiji cruiserweight champion, Alifereti Kauyaca, is confident of an impressive comeback fight against Esira Natotomu in tonight’s main bout of the South Pacific Boxing Promotions at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Kauyaca had taken a break due to illness but yesterday he was in tip top shape as the hit the scale at 89.8 kilogrammes during the official weigh-in at Nadi Civic Centre.
The undefeated champion said he was adamant of doing well against Natotomu who had weighed in at 92.1kg.
“I respect my opponent and it will be a good fight,” the soft spoken Kauyaca said.
“We’re both fit and ready to go the full distance.”
The 25-year-old Natotomu who hails from Nadrau in Navosa told SUNsports that he is expecting a tough fight.
“It will be a good fight since Kauyaca is the champion. It will be a tough match as I’ll be fighting in my fourth professional fight.”
An added boost to tonight’s programme in the inclusion of Fiji heavyweight champion, James ‘The Beast’ Singh, who takes on Isaia Raqila in a four-round fight. Singh has been looking for worthy opponents in the heavyweight division after he knocked out Jonasa Kavika.
Raqila weighed in at 122.1kg while Singh was at 119.8kg.
“I’ve been preparing well for this fight and hope Raqila can match me,” said Singh.
Raqila, who is hopeful of defying the odds and score an upset win said: “I’m ready as this will be a good fight as I’ve also prepared well.”
Boxing Commission of Fiji director (West) Usman Lale Ali confirmed that all the fights would go on as scheduled as the boxers have met their respective weights.
