Fiji took the lead in the 11th min- ute from a try to winger Ilisapeci Delaiwalu with Lavena Cavuru landing the conversion for a 7-0 lead.

The South Africans hit back with a converted try minutes from half- time to level the scores 7-7. Their joy was short-lived when Fijiana winger Akanisi Sokoiwasa dived over the second try with Cavuru making it 14-7 at halftime.

South Africa came back to level the scores at 14-14 before they took the lead 17-14 in the 78th minute.

From the restart, Donu claimed the ball and Rasolea charged onto the ball and was brought down a metre from the try line and the South Africans were penalised. Cavuru took a quick tap and few Naisewa who crashed for the winning try, which was converted.
