New Netball Star Strikes

Playing in her first national netball championship was special for goal shooter Timaima Molikula Bobo.
Not only their Nasinu Gold side won the Premier Division of the Digicel Punjas tournament, the 22-year-old was also named the Player of the Final.
They defeated a star studded Suva Bay side, 28-25 to defend the title and Bobo has set her eyes for a spot in the Fijian Pearls squad.
She is a police officer based at the Raiwaqa Police Station and hails from Burenitu, Nalawa in Ra.
The Nasinu team had former national reps like captain Alesi Waqa-Paul and Alisi Galo while Suva Bay fielded former national shooter Matila Vocea, Aliti Toribau and Ema Mualuvu.
“The tournament was tough, majority reps of the Suva teams were national reps,” Bobo said.
“I thank God and the Nasinu netball for allowing me to play and showcase the talent God has given me.
“None of my family members were at the games but I want to dedicate this to them and also to my team-mates.
“My goal is to join the national squad in the future. I’ve been playing netball since I was in Year 10 but this is my first time playing for Nasinu and to be selected in the A team meant a lot.
“This is also my first national championship and to be the best player is a highlight of my career.. The (Ratu) Sukuna Bowl is now next for me.”
Meanwhile, the senior division was won by Ra after beating Naboutini, 20-18.
Suva Whites won the Under-18 grade title as they beat Naboutini 30–22.
