The People’s Alliance (PA) is having talks with its lawyers to see what further action the party can take in regards to a complaint against FijiFirst.

This after the Supervisor of Election Mohammed Saneem had dismissed the complaint made against FijiFirst by The PA, labeling it as, ‘without merit’.

Mr Saneem said the activities that have been complained about by PA on October 3 are screenshots of persons performing their functions in their official capacities.

“The projects being delivered or handed over are directly based on the annual budget of government ministries that has been duly approved by Parliament,” he said.

However, Mr Kamikamica said the Fijian Elections Office could have referred their complaint to the Electoral Commission for its opinion.

“The 50-page dossier included news articles and government PR materials that documented activities carried out by the FijiFirst government ministers which our party deemed as massive vote buying practice,” he said.

“Just in yesterday’s papers, the National Federation and Unity Fiji pointed out vote buying by a certain Government Minister.

“During this election year there seems to be an increase activity of handouts conducted by elected officials on-the-ground, compared to previous years.

“These are targeted at women and youth. How can they say this is not vote buying? This is a massive vote buying exercise. Our advice to the Fijian people is take the benefits, but vote them out in the next election,” he said.

He said Mr Saneem dismissing their complaint will not stop the PA from continuing to bring to his attention probable breaches of electoral laws.
