Positive Outcome Noted From FNU West Open Day

Fiji National University (FNU) Dean of the College of Humanities and Education Professor Unaisi Nabobo Baba said there was an atmosphere of positivity and excitement during the FNU Open Day at its Natabua Campus in Lautoka on Friday.
The event for all campuses based in the Western Division was held after a lapse of two years.
“In the Western Division, Natabua is the centre, all our campuses and colleges in the West are here today to present including the National Training Productivity Centre (NTPC),” she said.
“So, today is about giving that information to people, to students, to their parents regarding my College of Humanities in Education. We also have the different disciplines but right across the other colleges, they are all represented here today, as well as having Nasinu, staff being on hand to explain the many things we are doing for the first time in the School of Education.”

“In Nasinu we have our music programmes, hairdressing, our TV programmes and our new Bachelor of Media and Communication.
“We have been asked by the ministry to do a conversion programme for teachers in secondary school who would like to be retrained to do primary teaching, they can also take our new conversion programme,” she said.
“Then of course we have short courses that we do for music and for graphic design.
“Right now in Naitasiri we’ve just completed four courses in sewing, jewellery making, hairdressing and graphic design, we also do that in the communities all the way through to Certificates three and four.”
