Noa Seru, Climate Policy Specialist Joins Politics

A newbie in the political arena, Noa Seru never thought that one day he would join politics.
He is now a People’s Alliance party provisional candidate.
Mr Seru, 52, is a Climate Policy and Finance Specialist, Programme Management, Community Development Adviser by profession.
The Mualevu villager from Vanuabalavu is an experienced advisor in the area of climate policy and financing.
He had also worked in the space of bilateral country programmes, multilateral education assistance, rural electrification, and ICT systems.
Mr Seru holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the South Pacific (USP), a Post Graduate Diploma in renewable energy technologies from the University of Melbourne and a Masters of Development Studies at the University of Queensland.
He started his career as a secondary school science teacher, and has worked at the Fijian Government, the Australian Development Aid Program, the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and recently – the USAID-funded Climate Ready project.
He has also invested heavily in supporting the province of Lau where he was recently a board member of the Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara Education Trust, and director of the Yatu Lau Company.
Mr Seru said his expertise will be a great boost for the party and nation as he has many years of experience in his field of work, specifically climate policy and financing.
“I’m hoping to bring to the party and the nation my areas of expertise in community development,” Mr Seru said.
“I never thought that I’ll be in politics but I know people want change.”
