Donu Stands Out In World Cup Stats

The Fijiana 15 may have made an early exit at the Rugby World Cup in Auckland, New Zealand, but some of our players stood out with their performance.
Fijiana XVs second five eighth Sesenieli Donu currently leads the women’s rugby World Cup statistics with the most number of offloads after the pool matches rounds.
Donu, 26, made 12 offloads in her three games ahead of New Zealand duo Ruahei Demant at 10 and Portia Woodman at 6.
The Vatukarasa, Nadroga native played full time in the England and South Africa matches before she was injured during the game against France where she played for 59 minutes.
Italy’s Aura Muzzo is fourth with five offloads where she is tied with Fijiana utility forward Karalaini Naisewa and prop Siteri Rasolea who are fifth and sixth respectively with 5 offloads each.
“I did not expect that I will top the offloads, I just knew it when my teammates showed it to me,” Donu said.
“I’m grateful; I’m just trying to make it. I will go back and learn more, recover and be back in the game.”
The former Jasper Williams High School student also played at this year’s sevens rugby World Cup and was an Olympic bronze medallist at the Tokyo Games.
Head coach Senirusi Seruvakula said: “She has been consistent.
“She did the hardwork on the field during the training and how we trained is how she played and she has been the best player in the tournament.”
