FijiFirst Announces 35 Proposed Candidates

FijiFirst yesterday became the first political party to announce names of their entire line-up for the December 14 General Election.

Two Members of Parliament – Rohit Sharma and Salik Ram Govind were not announced in the list which was announced by general secretary Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Former SODELPA Member of Parliament Mosese Bulitavu was announced in the FijiFirst line-up.

The new proposed candidates announced were:

 

Bhawini Devi Narayan

Ms Narayan started her career as an Assistant Teacher in various schools before she became the Vice Principal at Swami Vivekananda College. She was the Vice President of the Nadi Farmers Carnival.

She was also the Secretary of the Nadi Duavata Association. She was the Vice President of the Frank Hilton Organisation and a volunteer member of the Strivers Club in Nadi. She holds a Bachelor of Education majoring in Biology and a Masters in Business Administration. Ms Narayan is originally from Bulabula, Ba. She currently resides in Nadi. She is 47-years-old.

 

Jagdish Chand

Mr Chand has held senior positions in the automotive industry over the past 25 years.

He was a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the then Fiji Institute of Technology. He holds a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing from Southern Queensland University.

Mr Chand is originally from Labasa. He currently resides in Samabula. He is 64-years-old.

 

Ketan Kirit Lal

Mr Lal is the Manager Operations at Santu Construction Work.

He is currently the National President of the Fiji National University Students’ Association.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) Degree.

He is pursuing his Post Graduate in Environmental Science and Management. Mr Lal is originally from Buca, Savusavu and currently resides in Nakasi. He is 27-years-old.

 

Mohammed Zuhayr Khan

Mr Khan is currently the Managing Director of a private earthmoving company in Sigatoka.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the South Pacific. Mr Khan is originally from Sovi Bay, Nadroga where he currently resides. He is 23-years-old.

 

Mosese Drecala Bulitavu

Mr Bulitavu has been a Member of Parliament since 2014.

He was also the Managing Director of Labasa Tikina Development Corporation Limited.

He was a former member of SODELPA and is a lawyer by profession.

He obtained his law degree from the University of the South Pacific.

Mr Bulitavu is originally from Korowiri Village, Labasa where he currently resides.

He is 39-years-old.

 

Ratu Ralawa Samuela Tabakau Raleqe

Ratu Ralawa Samuela Tabakau Raleqe was until recently working with World Health Organization.

He is a member of the Kids Link Fiji Alumni.

He had represented Fiji at the United Nations Regional Consultation on Violence Against Children in Bangkok, Thailand.

He was selected from the South East Asia Pacific Region to attend the Global Launching of the United Nations Report on Violence Against Children in New York as a Child Facilitator. He was also a volunteer with Save the Children Fiji.

Ratu Ralawa is originally from Bua and currently resides in Nabua. He is 35-years-old.

 

Riddhi Damodar

Ms Damodar is the Director of Lollywood – Candy and Confectionaries Store in Suva.

She is a former Vice-President of the National Federation Party.

She is also a certified Judge for Gymnastics by Gymnastic Fiji.

She holds a Bachelor in Computer Science from Sarvanjanik College of Engineering and Technology in Surat, India.

Ms Damodar is originally from Ahmedabad, India and she resides in Lami. She is 36-years-old.

 

Sakiusa Vaka Bolaira 

Mr Bolaira was the Regional General Manager of Unit Trust of Fiji.

He has served in various Boards including the National Trust of Fiji.

He was the TV News Presenter at the Fiji Television Limited and was also the Radio Announcer at the Fijian Broadcasting Corporation Limited. He holds a Master of Arts in Diplomacy and International Affairs. Mr Bolaira is originally from Nakasaleka, Kadavu and currently resides in Pacific Harbour. He is 46-years-old.

 

Suzie Hirst-Tuilau

Mrs Hirst Tuilau was until recently the Media Liaison Officer at the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources. She was a FijiFirst Candidate in the 2018 General Election and was selected as one of the 30 under 30 Young Entrepreneurs in Fiji. She owns and manages an agri-tourism resort known as The Beehive in Wailevu, Rakiraki.

She is also the Director of Wonder Women for Change assisting women in Rakiraki and Tavua.

Mrs Hirst-Tuilau is originally from Bau, Tailevu and currently resides in Pacific Harbour.

She is 31-years-old.

 

Taito Rokomatu 

Mr Rokomatu has been involved mainly in the provincial youth forum.

He was a member of the National Youth Advisory Board.

He holds a Certificate in Youth and Community Development and a Trade Certificate in Automotive Engineering.

He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and Sociology at the University of the South Pacific.

Mr Rokomatu is originally from Naveicovatu, Wainibuka, Tailevu and currently resides in Nailega, Wainibuka.

He is 53-years-old.

 

Other proposed candidates

The rest of the proposed candidates that make the final 35 are listed in alphabetical: Alexander O’Connor, Alipate Nagata, Alvick Maharaj, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Faiyaz Koya, George Vegnathan, Howard Politini, Ifereimi Waqainabete, Inia Seruiratu, Jale Sigarara, Jone Usamate, Joseph Nand, Mahendra Reddy, Parveen Bala, Premila Kumar, Rosy Akbar, Sachida Nand, Sanjay Kirpal, Selai Adimaitoga, Semi Koroilavesau, Veena Bhatnagar, Viam Pillay, Vijay Nath,Virendra Lal and Voreqe Bainimarama.

The first batch of 20 proposed candidates were announced on October 9.
