Bull Goring Incident Claims Life Of A Man
Late Suresh Chand

Family members of Suresh Chand are still in shock following news of his tragic death.

The late Mr Chand was allegedly gored by a bull at Clopcott, Ba on October 29.

“We heard from the fire officers that the bull hit Suresh at around 9am on Saturday. He was just looking after the bull, but it belonged to another man who lived nearby,” he said.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim was tethering cows belonging to a 60- year-old farmer when he was attacked by a black bull. He was rushed to the Ba Aspen Hospital and later transferred to the Lautoka Hospital where he passed away yesterday (Sunday),” she said.

Nephew Vikash said the late Mr Chand’s wife had passed away a few years ago and he lived alone with his 12-year- old grandson. His three daughters and son are all married.

He claimed that when the bull hit Suresh, he shouted and the fire officers nearby heard him and ran towards him.

“At that time Suresh was still alive, he was still talking but when he reached Lautoka he lost consciousness.

He said the late Mr Chand has lived in Clopcott, Ba for over 45 years.

“He was a nice man, he never had any problems with anyone and could go to any of the houses to sit with them,” he said.

The late Suresh Chand is survived by his four children and 12 grandchildren.

He is expected to be laid to rest on Wednesday at the Varoko cemetery in Ba.
