Six Police officers have been suspended for their alleged involvement in the death of a 26-year-old in February.

The six officers are Ledua Balemainiusiladi, 26, Isimeli Baleilakeba Kiso, 37, Basilio Vevewa, 25, Maciu Vakaturaga, 32, Joshua Bull, 23, and Isireli Raseisei, 23.

They are charged with one count of murder of Mikaela Tikoivakenibula.

The allegations are that the deceased was brought to the Samabula Police Station after he allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old mechanic along Moala Street in Samabula.

The Police officers could not obtain the Tikoivakenibula’s particulars as he was heavily intoxicated and was kept in custody.

Later that night, the Police officers found him motionless and he was rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The allegations are that the accused persons assaulted the victim resulting in his death.

All accused have been bailed for the sum of $1000 with two sureties and standard bail conditions.

The accused persons have been ordered to surrender travel documents and stop departure orders have been imposed.

The matter has been transferred to the High Court in Suva and will be called for first call on November 18.
