Market Day Enhances Businesses

Shirlene Sagar and Max Olsson manage the Vaga Gardens at Hibiscus Highway in Savusavu.
They will be hosting the community-driven Vaga Market Day on Sunday.
Mr Olsson thanked the property owner, Pettine Simpson for the opportunity to host the event. Ms Simpson had in fact initiated Vaga Market Day.
Ms Sagar said: “COVID-19 taught us a lot in terms of being creative and realising our entrepreneurial spirit and how to monitor and manage their finances wisely in such situations.”
She said the positive aspect about the market day was that vendors won’t pay stall fees as organisers want to create a commercial community space.
Vendors are encouraged to display their products such as pot plants, paintings, weaved mats, second-hand home item and swimming and diving gear.
“The market day gives people a chance to meet up and build entrepreneurial network and also boosts the local economy,” she said
Fijian dishes and local delicacies would be on sale
Response And Expectations
Positive feedback has since been received from interested vendors.
“A previous market day had good response and we hope to see another huge turnout this Sunday,” Ms Sagar said
Organisers have hired a live band to attract more Fijians and tourists alike to experience the local business landscape
