The move to find the right person to be our playmaker at the 2023 Rugby World Cup has begun.

This was after Flying Fijians head coach, Vern Cotter, yesterday named Vilimoni Botitu at first five eight for Sunday morning’s Test clash against Scotland at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

Cotter has said playing at No.10 is important since it is a decision maker’s role. First choice first five-eighths, Teti Tela is benched while Ben Volavola was recalled to the squad to be on standby.

Botitu, who has been playing regularly at second five eight is not new to the playmaker’s role, as well as the talented Sireli Maqala who is on the reserve bench.

Strong running Levani Botia has been moved to openside flanker to contest for the ball in the breakdowns while Fijian Drua strongman Kalaveti Ravouvou gets his break at second five eight. Burly lock Leone Rotuisolia also gets his first Test start.

Cotter said they have mapped out a game plan, which the players need to follow in order to counter their opponents.

“We need to approach the game with a lot of humility.

“We are a Tier Two team playing a Tier One side that has a game already in the bag.”

The match kicks off at 1am and will be shown live on Sky Pacific.
