The Fiji Pine Trust has raised its concerns on the naming of one of their employees, Sekonaia Rabukaduadua, as a provisional candidate of the National Federation Party, without resigning from the trust.

In a statement on Friday night, Fiji Pine Trust Manager, Timoci Nabou raised his disappointment saying that during the live announcement, the National Federation party claimed that Mr Rabukaduadua was a former Executive of Fiji Pine Limited.

Mr Nabou clarified that Mr Rabukaduadua was a present employee of the Trust and was at work today in Lautoka.

“He holds the position of Extension Officer which is a non-executive position. When I got the news, I asked Mr Sekonaia since our Trust is apolitical and does not allow any of its employees to be proposed candidates,” he said.

“If they want to be candidates then they have to resign before accepting the candidacy.”

Mr Nabou said he was informed by Mr Rabukaduadua that he has not been informed of this yet by the NFP.

He added that Mr Rabukaduadua’s announcement as a candidate was a serious breach of the Trust policy.

But in a statement from Fiji Pine Limited, it clarified that Mr Sekonaia Rabukaduadua was not employed by the company.

This was after National Federation Party Leader Biman Prasad announced yesterday that Mr Rabukadadua was an executive of the Fiji Pine Limited.

“Fiji Pine Limited hereby advises that there has never been an Executive by the name Sekonaia Rabukaduadua,” the statement said.

Comments sought from Mr Prasad and Mr Rabukaduadua on Friday were unsuccessful when this edition went to press.
