85% Of Fijians Are Android Users: Prasad

Forty per cent of all Vodafone customers in Fiji now recharge their prepaid phones using the M-PAiSA app, says Vodafone Fiji Pte Ltd chief commercial officer, Ronald Prasad.
Mr Prasad highlighted the statement while speaking at the Fiji Tech Summit 2022 at the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Natadola on Thursday.
He was speaking on behalf of the world-renowned tech brand, Samsung.
Mr Prasad said with the 40 percentage, it signified a huge increment and a huge savings for the business.
He mentioned that about eight months ago, the percentage stood at about six per cent.
He said it also showed what automation, machine learning and going into Cloud could do for businesses.
“What we are seeing even in the Fiji market is that a lot of businesses are now exploring Cloud,” said Mr Prasad.
“If you look at the development that happened between the time Cloud came out, it is almost the same time when the smartphones came out, the adoption of smartphones, overall, it’s sitting over 90 per cent.
“If you look at the adoption of Cloud globally, it’s sitting at around 30 per cent or 35 per cent.”
He said this was evidence that a lot of vendors were becoming quite mature in using Cloud.
“And there is a lot of trust in Cloud and businesses are now looking at migrating to the Cloud,” he added.
