$100K Hearty Donation To Boost Fiji Cancer Society Advocacy Work

As a way of giving back to communities, Challenge Group of Companies has donated $100,000 to the Fiji Cancer Society.
The donation will be used to boost its support to Fijians impacted by cancer and to also continue its advocacy work around the country.
At the handover in Lautoka on Saturday, financial controller, Rimal Mogam, said over the years the group funded numerous needy organisations as part of its corporate social responsibility.
“We trust the funding will be of some assistance to our loved ones who are battling this disease and also boost the hardworking volunteers and the Fiji Cancer Society,” Mr Mogam said.
Cancer Society Chief Executive Officer, Belinda Chan said the society was grateful for such organisations who continue to support and ensure no individual fought cancer alone.
Ms Chan said this year, from January to September the society had registered 332 cancer patients.
The society has reached out to:
- 1779 Fijians
- provided cervical screening to 499 women
- breast examination to 741 women
- conducted PSA (prostate-specific antigen) testing to 74 men.
“This donation will be directed towards the expansion of our admin services in the West, increase our education programmes with focus on prevention and ensuring we are able to reach the far-flung communities that have limited to no access to health services,” she said.
