We have to maintain the highest level of delivery that we’re doing now as a regulator, it’s very important that we set the standard.

This was said by Fijian Competition & Consumer Commission (FCCC) board chair Isikeli Tikoduadua after they received the Fiji Business Excellence Presidents Award on Saturday night.

FCCC also walked away with the environmental award.

Mr Tikoduadua said the double celebration was a surprise for the organization.

In 2019, FCCC won the achievement awards which Mr Tikoduadua said motivated them to do better.

“What else can we do to continue to improve our excellence in the way that we do our business because we are regulated,” Mr Tikoduadua said.

“It’s very important for us to set the benchmark that we are actually performing an international standard event, so we apply for this one here.

“For us, the environmental award was also very important because of global warming, we need to actually demonstrate it in the way that we run our business.

“We hope that this message will go to other institutions, especially to organizations that have not been engaged or want to come into this award, because it will help you in improving the way you do business.”

And for those who want to do audits in the way they perform, especially on the COVID function.

Mr Tikoduadua said all businesses should take on the FBE framework as it would help the organisation in improving processes.

“I would encourage a lot of organisations, if you have an opportunity, please join and it’ll do your level of benefit.

He said FCCC would continue to soar to greater heights and would be consistent in its participation in the FBE awards.

Meanwhile, President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere was the chief guest at the event held at the Grand Pacific Hotel .

“Tonight is a celebration of achievements that have been attained through exceptional levels of business excellence in both the private and public sectors,” Ratu Wiliame said.

“We have witnessed and can attest to the incredible journey and the ever growing interest in the Fiji Business Excellence Awards Framework across all sectors in the country.

“The Fiji Business Excellence framework and criteria plays an important role in strengthening Fiji’s competitiveness, leadership and adaptability to achieve excellence.”

Fiji has seen more than a 100 locally-based organisations participating in the Fiji Business Excellence process where more than 70 per cent were from the private sector and the remaining 30 per cent from the public sector.

“To date a total of 289 awards have been presented to around 150 applicants over the last twenty- two years,” Ratu Wiliame said.
