Never share your One-Time Password (OTP), also known as a one-time PIN, one-time authorisation code or dynamic password to anyone including Police.

Vodafone Fiji ’s head of eCommerce and digital financial services, Shailendra Prasad made this clear at the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North thanksgiving night at Fiji Football Academy Hall in Labasa last Saturday.

OTP is a password that is valid for only one login session or transaction, on a computer system or other digital device.

He revealed that recently they received reports from Labasa about some scammers asking for their OTP details.

“They are calling M-PAiSA users and claiming that they were calling from Vodafone or from a particular company and saying they got some money and asking for their OTP,” Mr Prasad said.

“The caller calls again and says they will give you this money once you provide them your OTP.”

“Vodafone as a company that runs M-PAiSA will never ask for your password as it is supposed to be secret,” he said.

“We don’t create a password for you and never ever share your password even to the police.”

He advised people to be careful in handling their phones.
