Who Is The People’s Alliance’s Karutake?
The People’s Alliance provisional candidate, Iakoba Karutake.

Iakoba Karutake is joining The Peoples Alliance party with an ambitious reason, and that is to represent the people of Rabi and Kioa Island.

Mr Karutake was one of the recently announced eleven provisional candidates for PA.

He is originally from Rabi Island and providing a formal platform for his people has become an essence ever since joined politics.

The 55-year-old is a qualified secondary school teacher.

Mr Karutake also knows too well about the importance of holding high key positions.

He was elected member of the Rabi Council of Leaders in 1997, before he became chairman of the Council in 2001.

Mr Karutake served in this role until 2004 when he was posted to the then Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs in 2005.

By 2008, he was made an Administrative Officer and posted to the Office of the Prime Minister.

Mr Karutake was Senior Project Planning Officer there until his resignation to apply as a candidate for The People’s Alliance.

He circles his political drive as a strong believer in democracy, freedom of speech, respect, transparency and accountability.

Mr Karutake has a passion to serve the people of Rabi, Kioa and other Pacific Island communities that now call Fiji home..

“Fiji needs a change in government that respects the rights and freedom of people,” Mr Karutake said.

Under his education background, Karutake holds a bachelor of arts in management, public administration and economics from the University of the South Pacific.
