The Chinese Government donated more than $1million worth of ammonium sulphate to South Pacific Fertilizer Limited (SPFL) in Lautoka last Friday.

The 720 tons was handed over by the Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo to the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Sugar Industry, Yogesh Karan.

The ammonium sulphate will allow SPFL to blend and produce 1112 metric tons of Blend C fertilizer.

In his address, Mr Bo said that the handover was an important part of the efforts made by the Fijian Government to mitigate the increased price of fertilizers in the international market.
