King Charles Welcomes His First World Leader To Buckingham Palace As Monarch

London: Royals put on a show of pomp and pageantry as the King welcomes his first world leader to Buckingham Palace as monarch: Kate and William ride along the Mall in golden carriage as Charles hosts South African president in historic state visit Buckingham Palace heralded the first state visit of the new King’s reign today with a dazzling display of pomp and pageantry.
President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa, whose visit was in the planning before Queen Elizabeth II’s death, was greeted by more than 1,000 soldiers, 230 horses, seven military bands and two state coaches.
Both Their Majesties, the King and Queen Consort, were out on Horse Guards Parade to greet their guest at the start of his two-day official visit to the UK.
