Let’s Go Local: Bouma Falls For Business Owner – Akanisi Smith

Akanisi Smith is a specialist in contemporary craft with hands that create beauty and uniqueness. After settling back in Fiji with her husband and family in the early 90s, Smith decided to pursue her interest in designing through contemporary crafting, she started her business with a friend.
Now with more than 20 years of business experience under her belt, Ms Smith believes he has mastered the art of managing time, and is keen on passing on her skills to the younger generation.
When the country was recovering from the first wave of the pandemic, Ms Smith had ventured to organise the first-ever solo craft exhibition for women in Nausori with the United States Ambassador as chief guest.
She was also recognised as an asset by he Fiji Arts Council, and with a stall at the NPF Plaza where she sells her crafts.
How Many Places Have You Visited Around Fiji?
I have been to Taveuni, Ovalau, Yasawa, Moala, and I have been to a number of holiday locations.
I have been all around Viti Levu but there are still so many places to go.

What Is Your Favourite Backyard Spot?
I love spending time with my family at home.
There’s a wooden chair that is made out of sandalwood which I love the most especially after a long day at work to sit and relax.

Bouma Falls Taveuni.
