National carrier, Fiji Airways, says a peak in global travel is causing delays in baggage delivery at its serving destinations.

The screening of bags is taking days before it is cleared however Fiji Airways is doing all within its power to ensure that guests receive their bags in time.

Fiji Airways says this worldwide crisis is further aggravated by third-party resourcing challenges and adverse weather conditions.

The airline is seeking the patience and understanding of guests during this festive season.

People are encouraged to carry essential items including medication and spare clothing in their carry on for the time being.

“In many instances, airport baggage holding rooms are beyond capacity and thousands of bags are in queue for security clearance and processing before they can be reunited with guests,” said Fiji Airways.

There are similar delays faced in Australia, Canada and the United States of America (USA)

The USA is seeing a high number of flight cancellations due to unfavorable weather conditions and this is affecting guests connecting from other airlines.
