People are turning up to health centres with influenza-like illness and health officials are worried about widespread infection.

The Ministry of Health is advising the general public to minimise movements and consider wearing facemasks when in outdoor spaces.

A public advisory from the ministry shows COVID-19 infections rising and also indicate that the vulnerable community will suffer as a result.

“Non-urgent visitation to the vulnerable should be avoided, and those caring for the vulnerable should wear face covering if they are feeling unwell,” said the advisory.

“The ministry is asking everyone to take precautions to avoid becoming infected and to stop the spread of the illness at this time.”

Symptoms

People with continued cough, sore throat, muscle/body aches, headache, fatigue, runny nose, sneezing, vomiting, and diarrhoea after seven days are advised to seek medical attention immediately.
