If you are sick the best advice is to see a doctor and stay home. Wear a mask when interacting with people.

The rising number of people turning up at hospitals and health centres with influenza-like illness across the country is a major concern. It is even more serious when COVID-19 cases are rising also. The symptoms are identical, and we must take all the necessary precautions to avoid a spike in cases.

The Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr James Fong, says there is a global trend at this time of the year with the proliferation of flu viruses following prolonged low exposure due to COVID measures.

He has advised the public to stay at home when feeling unwell and wear face covering (masks) when going outside in order to minimise the spread of infection. Hand washing and proper cough practice should be followed at all times.

Let’s follow his advice. We cannot afford to be complacent.
