Nadi District officer Faiyaz Ali said a new cemetery site for the people of Nadi had been looked at after one of its existing cemeteries, Enamanu, was recently partially closed.
Mr Ali confirmed this yesterday after Enamanu Cemetery had been closed to other races except for Chinese and Muslims.
“We are looking at one 40-acre land at Solovi,” he said.
“The lease for that land is $600,000 and negotiations are ongoing with the Mataqali for an affordable price.”
