Police Special Task Force Handling Mr Sayed-Khaiyum’s Case

A special task force is now handling the case of former Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
Chief of Intelligence and Investigation Assistant Commissioner of Police, Surend Sami said this task force works under the direction of the Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
He said the process of getting statement and necessary evidence continues by investigators and once the process is completed then the next course of action will be taken.
“We do not want to pressure the investigators and must allow them to conduct their work thoroughly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Last month a border alert was issued by the CID for Mr Sayed-Khaiyum where he was cited as a person of interest and that he is currently under investigation regarding a case of alleged inciting communal antagonism.
Mr. Sayed-Khaiyum arrived in the country last night.
