Wrong solutions will not stick.

That’s how Fiji Roads Authority summed up concerns from some quarters over the repeated need to fix potholes on roads around the country.

While FRA could provide contractors with specifications to carry out their designated line of work, the onus was on the contractors to administer the correct solutions, chief executive officer, Kamal Prasad, said.

“If it’s not the right solution for the problem, it will break every day;” he said.

“I don’t know how people made decisions before me, they probably said that was the right solution to the problem.

“What I’m doing is investigating the solution to the problem, to why things are the way they are.”

FRA has since ripped layers off roads to present better sealed surfaces, to do away with the band aid solutions, Mr Prasad said.
