Elders Move Away From Traditional To Sustainable Funeral Arrangement

Matawailevu Village elders have introduced a rule to help families minimize their budget when organising funeral arrangements for their loved ones.
The decision to do away with having traditional week-long funeral gatherings was made by the Bose Vanua of Matawailevu Village in Nalawa, Ra Province at the beginning of the year.
Previously, the gathering of families and friends to pay their final respects to a loved one who has passed on could last between three days to a week before burial.
This old tradition however, will now be a burden of the past for close to 160 villagers of Matawailevu.
