Barring any pool upset, the Fiji Airways Fijiana women’s rugby sevens side will take on Ireland in tonight’s Cup quarterfinals.

The Saiasi Fuli coached-side found their mojo after a 17-5 loss to Great Britain in their pool opener as they went on to upset USA 17-14 on Friday night before thrashing Canada 34-7 in their final pool match, this afternoon.

The Fijiana side finished second in Pool B with seven points along with Great Britain who had an edge on the points’ difference.

USA also finished with seven points and is likely to qualify as they third best placed team.
Impressive for the Fijiana side is lanky forward Vani Buleki who twice had to run from behind to make try saving tackles against Canada.

The Fijians led 17-0 at halftime with tries from Reapi Ulunisau, Buleki and Ana Maria Naimasi who managed to land one conversion.

In the second half tries came from winger Younis Bese, Ulunisau and Lavena Cavuru.

In their earlier match against USA, Buleki scored two tries with Naimasi scoring the other.
