The Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua does not want the Fiji Police Force to be “militarised” anymore.

Mr Tikoduadua said some members of the public may have had confidence issues with the Fiji Police Force while it was led by the suspended Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho.

Mr Qiliho is a Republic of Fiji Military Forces officer.

His comment comes after Mr Qiliho’s suspension was endorsed by President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere on the advice of the Constitutional Offices Commission on Friday.

On interim positions were Juki Fong Chew who takes up the role of Acting Commissioner of Police while well-known corrections officer, Salote Panapasa, was given the Acting Commissioner for the Fiji Corrections Service post.
