FIJI Water Foundation Donates $1M In Grants To Fund Life- Changing Work In Fiji

FIJI Water Foundation today announced the 9 recipients of the 2023 Community Grant program – including Rise Beyond the Reef, Rotary Pacific Water for Life, Beacon Media Ministries, Cure Kids, Tavua Town Council, Nananu Village Community Development Fund, Save the Children, Leadership Fiji, and Empower Pacific.
As part of the annual initiative, FIJI Water Foundation will invest a record amount of money and collaborate with nonprofits, working together to improve access to health care, education, and economic resiliency across Fiji. While some recipients are long standing partners of the Foundation, it is the first time many organisations will be working with FIJI Water Foundation.
“At Rise Beyond the Reef we strive to create economic opportunities for rural and remote women in Fiji. We can’t express how impactful this grant will be in 2023. The funds this year will support over 600 women in our artisan programmes gain new business skills to bring their products to a growing market. We look forward to this partnership with FIJI Water Foundation,” said Semi Lotawa, the co-founder of Rise Beyond the Reef.
“These Community Grant recipients have each demonstrated an ongoing commitment to improving the lives of Fijians – whether that be through healthcare, clean water, community beautification, leadership development, or the arts to name just a few of the projects we will be funding,” added Kaitlyn Yates, Director of Philanthropy for the FIJI Water Foundation.
“We are thrilled that this year was the first time we’ve been able to have an open call for applications receiving over 70 applications from 65 unique organizations. We look forward to working with more organizations throughout Fiji and are proud to support the wonderful and impactful work they do,” added Yates.
As part of FIJI Water Foundations annual program of grants to support the Fijian community, applications for next year’s Community Grant program [2024] will open in August 2023, and close in September 2023. If you are a teacher or educator in Fjii, you can now also apply for the 2023 Classroom Grants program; an initiative that helps prepare the next generation of Fijians to learn and thrive which is accepting applications through March 11th.
