Corruption Perception Index Ranking Dropped For Fiji

One of the positive aspects of this year’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score and ranking for Fiji is that a new Government has come into power that is not authoritarian, said Civic Leader for Clean Transactions (CLCT) Integrity Fiji executive director, Joseph Veramu.
“The coalition Government will repeal the draconian Media Act and allow for free speech and assembly among other democratic rights,” Mr Veramu said.
CPI results were released on Tuesday at the Tanoa Plaza in Suva by CLCT Integrity Fiji. It showed Fiji’s ranking had fallen from 45 to 49 out of 180 nations last year.
The results showed Fiji’s CPI score has gone down from last year’s figure of 55 to 53 out of 100 this year.
