Batisarisari, A New Turmeric Buyer In Vanua Levu

There is a huge demand for Fiji turmeric abroad, says Seaqaqa businessman Jonathan Batisarisari.
Mr Batisarisari and his family moved to Fiji from Canada in 2020 to start their own business in Seaqaqa.
He now buys turmeric from farmers in Vanua Levu.
They named their business Waka (roots) to remind them of their journey back home and reconnect with families and roots in Seaqaqa.
For a week now, Mr Batisarisari has been assisting farmers through market exploration.
His main mission was to provide employment opportunities and responsible utilisation of natural resources.
Mr Batisarisari said when people first heard about turmeric, the next thing they would think about was finding a market.
Because sometimes farmers really put in all their efforts only to be turned down by the buyers, he said.
