Heavy Rain Causes Flooding In Davuilevu, Residents Call For Help

Residents of Maitaika Street at Davuilevu Sub-Division near Nakasi, Nasinu, are calling for help after another round of flash flooding from heavy rain yesterday.
Resident Tomasi Luvuiwai, 37, who has been living in the area for more than two decades, said low-lying residences would get waters spilling into their compounds during heavy rain. He lives with his wife, their four children, mother and sister.
The heavy downpour yesterday saw flood waters entering his compound. Another resident, Naren Prasad, who has lived over 20 years in the area called on Nausori Town Council to clear the blocked drains and culvert.
“It is unsafe during rainy days,” he said.
Attempts to get comments from the Nausori Town Council yesterday were unsuccessful by the time this edition went to press.
