Finance Permanent Secretary Clarifies $200 Back-to-School Assistance

Permanent Secretary for Finance Shiri Gounder has clarified that the $200 Back to School assistance will only be paid out to parents/guardians whose children have enrolled to study this year.

The clarification follows complaints by Year 12 parents that some schools had withheld their application forms and informed them that it would be processed only after their children have enrolled.

“We have so far paid out around $42 million to parents of 210,000 students (coverage of almost 90 per cent of total students),” Mr Gounder said.
