Online Safety Commission Records 2,800 Complaints

A total of 2800 online complaints have been lodged with the Online Safety Commission since its establishment in 2018.

A total of 2800 online complaints have been lodged with the Online Safety Commission since its establishment in 2018.

Last year alone, the commission received 43.26 per cent complaints of harassment, hacking of social media accounts, online scam, family as well as business related matters.

The commission also recorded: 

  • 27.16 per cent of defamatory comments and posts mostly on Facebook 
  • 21 per cent of young people, between the ages of 19 and 25 years, had lodged reports regarding uncomfortable situations.
