About 200 China Railway workers are upset after being told they will work reduced hours and take their leave because of a limited budget.

They are members of No 5 Engineering Group’s (CR5G) Suva, Rewa and Korovou team. They were served with a letter on February 9, detailing the reduction of work for staff due to the limited budget placed upon the company by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA).

The letter said: “After a management meeting and discussion with all the zone managers, all the zone supervisors and the Nokonoko Head office employees, CR5G Maintenance Project would like to inform all our employees that your work schedule will now be rostered and you will only come to work according to the roster from the 13th of February 2023.”
