Ro Filipe Tuisawau has confirmed that taxi permits will no longer be issued through the taxi permit lottery.

The Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services said discussions were underway to devise a new system which he said would be more transparent. This was during his visit to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Lautoka branch last Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Current Lottery System

With the taxi permit lottery system, taxi permit applicants fill the application form and pay a fee of $67.50 under the rule that it is one permit per family.

Applicants must reside within the Viseisei bypass area to Lovu, Lautoka.
