Food import could drop soon, the Reserve Bank of Fiji, has said.
Food inflation averaged 6.0 per cent in 2022, driven by higher prices for food imported products which rose because of global supply chain disruptions caused by the Russian war in Ukraine, the coronavirus pandemic, and various natural disasters across the world.
“In January 2023, food prices compared to the same period last year were higher by 6.8 per cent,” Governor, Ariff Ali, said.
