No Apology Yet
There is no word yet from suspended Leader of Opposition, Voreqe Bainimarama, about him issuing an apology to the public following his immediate suspension from Parliament.
Mr Bainimarama was suspended last Friday in a second vote by Parliament after the Privileges Committee, in its report, stated that his speech last Monday about the President and military was seditious and breached the Standing Order of Parliament.
On the Privileges Committee Report on the referral of a Matter of Privilege against Mr Bainimarama, one of the recommendations states on 7.1 (iii) that Mr Bainimarama issue an apology to the public within 48 hours from February 17, 2023.
