Catholics Mark Ash Wednesday

Catholics around the country celebrated Ash Wednesday yesterday to mark the beginning of the Season of Lent.

Catholics around the country celebrated Ash Wednesday yesterday to mark the beginning of the Season of Lent.

It is a season of penance, reflection, and fasting which prepares them for Jesus Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday, through which they attain redemption.

Catholics in Fiji and around the world, will now observe 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter.

Devotees observe Ash Wednesday as a day of repentance, when Christians confess their sins and profess their devotion to God.
