Four Cruise Liners, Up To $2m

With four cruise liners arriving on our shores last week, Tourism Fiji estimated an overall potential economic benefit of upto $2m.
Tourism Fiji chief operations officer Leigh Howard said the berthing of liners at the Port of Suva was a boost for the economy.
According to industry estimates, the average spending per passenger during a port call is approximately FJ$90.
“Assuming an average passenger capacity of 2,500 passengers per ship, the recent visit of the four cruise ships would have brought an estimated total economic value of $900,000 FJD to the Fijian economy,” Mr Howard said.
