The Lelean Memorial School Under-17 rugby league side put on a powerful display to beat Suva Sangam College 14-4 during the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League competition at Marcellin grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva, this morning.

Knights U17 coach Ratu Paula Nawailala said fitness enabled the players to play well and contain their opponents.

He said they came in prepared knowing that Suva Sangam thrashed Noco Secondary School 30-0 last Saturday.

Ratu Paula said they had their inter-house meet on Thursday and his players were still fit from the athletics meet.

However, they did not have enough time to warm-up since some player came to the ground late.

“These students had been together since they were playing in the Under-15 competitions. They are training together to try and improve on their performance,” Ratu Paula said.

“These young players have the skills and now one of them will be leaving for New Zealand soon.”
