The chair of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), Mark Brown, says the cyclones and earthquake which have battered Vanuatu should drive home the vulnerability and the responsibility for the global climate crisis and its impact on small island developing states.

Mr Brown, who is also Cook Islands Prime Minister, said the PIF stood ready to assist with the recovery and rebuilding efforts as and when possible.

“Our hearts go out to those in Vanuatu who are now homeless, those hurting, those displaced, those hungry and the many anxiously awaiting news or assistance,” he said.
