Qiliho And Bainimarama Pleads Not Guilty

Former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho have pleaded not guilty to the charges of abuse of office.
Bainimarama and Qiliho are charged with one count each of abuse of office.
The allegations against the former Prime Minister is that sometime in July 2020, in his capacity as the Prime Minister directed Qiliho as the Commissioner of Police to stop investigations into a Police complaint involving CID HQ in July 2019 which was an abuse of authority and prejudicial to the rights of USP.
The allegations against Qiliho is that sometimes in July 2020, in his capacity as the Commissioner of Police directed the CID director and an Inspector to stop investigations into the Police complaint involving CID HQ which an abuse of his authority and prejudicial to rights of USP.
The matter has been stood down for bail hearing and ruling.
