Na Turaga Na Vunivalu Na Tui Kaba, Ratu Epenisa Ca­kobau, has vowed to serve the people of Kubuna to the best of his ability.

Ratu Epenisa made these com­ments after he was installed and given the kamunaga – marking his official installation.

An emotional Ratu Epenisa said it would not be an easy task but vowed to work together with everyone.

The Vunivalu of Bau title has been vacant since 1989 after the passing away of Ratu Sir George Cakobau.

It has been 65 years since the last installation of the Vunivalu.

The installation of the Vunivalu of Bau was called off in 2018. Ratu Epenisa’s elder brother the late Ratu Joji Kadavulevu Cakobau had written to the iTaukei Lands and Fisheries Commission to dispute this decision.

“May God continue to bless us. Let us all work together towards the work that is in front of us. May there be peace among us,” Ratu Epenisa said.

“It is good to see that everyone has come together as a family. I want us to work together for the betterment of this new position.

“I can’t do it alone. I want to thank my family who has helped us in the last 33 years. It was not an easy task but with their support and guid­ance we are able to witness today.”
