‘I’m Just Doing My Job’

A female leader in a male-dominant industry says there are prescribed legal avenues to resort to for the disgruntled lot, where her decisions are concerned.
Director Environment, Sandeep Singh, recently came under the limelight after a letter from the Mining and Quarrying Council, highlighted five areas of concerns, part of which were related to decisions of the Environment department.

In an exclusive interview with SunBiz, the country’s first female director for environment said she carried out her duties within the ambit of the law.
“I am doing my job to ensure sustainable development,” she said.
“The appeal process is legislated and has been communicated to business communities during the environment impact assessment (EIA) roundtables and clinics.
