Young Women Take Up Leadership Roles
Young women in Lomolomo in Lautoka have been empowered to step up and take leadership roles in the community.
Speaking to the Lomolomo TISI Mothers Sangam Club’s International Women’s Day celebrations on Wednesday night, Shakuntla Devi Permal also paid tribute to a former resident and now United States businessman Bimal ‘Sammy’ Singh for the work he has done in the area.
She said Mr Singh had done a lot of work for women in the area and also provided security lightings at the Lomolomo Public School to safeguard against children and especially young girls.
Mrs Permal, who is also the advisory councilor for Lomolomo, said the more senior women in the area have taken a step back and put their young ladies into positions of responsibility.
