Fiji’s leading metal sculpture, Shane Bower, is among local contemporary artists participating at an upcoming art and fashion show in the North.

Two other artists, Lynn McLaren and Cherish Prasad, are part of the show, where they are expected to display some of their finest work.

Mr Bower is more popularly appreciated for the metal sculpture of a stallion at the end of the Melrose Bridge, in Nadroga.

Ms McLaren makes concrete bowls, platters, pots, candle holders, sinks and sculptors, as decor pieces.

Mr Prasad designs clothes. A collection of his work will be worn down the runway.

The Savusavu Art and Fashion show commences for a week from March 25.

Events such as these were key part of tourism, Tourism Fiji chief executive officer Brent Hill said.

A masterpiece in the name of Shane Bower.

He said it was encouraging to witness the global resurgence of the tourism industry which was crucial for economic recovery.

Fiji has experienced this, Mr Hill said.

“We continue to be on a roll with awards nominations,” he said.

“Many of our properties have been nominated for the Travel and Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2023, voting is now open.

“We definitely want to bring the awards home,” he said.

He said the Tourism Investment Summit was scheduled for March 30-31.

“In April, we have Fiji Airways opening direct routes to China and Japan,” he said.
